Hi I'm Alissa Kaes:) In general, i feel that a lot people are treated differently because of their gender/sexuality/ ethnicity/looks. A lot of individuals don't take us as serious as they do with men.
As a young woman, I also experienced men who tried to mess with my set. They tried to get next to me to touch the buttons on the mixer tell me what I should do to be better and even try to mix their own songs into my set.
Still i'm conviced that change is coming soon. The techno scene (for DJ's) can be more diverse, but I do have faith that it wil improve for all of us, there's already a lot of progress and positivity!
