7 years of Whiskas @ Fuchs2

Hi I'm KimberlaID, DJ and producer from Paris. I fell in love with the electronic music, the clubbing/rave scene and the loud music on banging sound systems when I was a teenager and the love story still goes on and onward. This year is and will be quite exciting for a few reasons you might hear at one point
My musical tastes ranges from strong soothing cute sounds to more hardcore emotional tracks.
As a woman in the electronic music industry, I've faced things that a lot of DJs have experienced: mansplaning, men trying to discredit you and your work by saying you're booked because of how you look, the same ones expecting you to not play hard because you're a woman ()
DJette/DJane is dead.
The music industry is a cisheteropatriarcal dominant system like the world we live in, we need to work towards the convergence of different struggles on a more inclusive world. Deconstruction is a path, we need to keep on fighting for equity and diversity.
We want to see more diversity on the agencies rosters, labels, line ups (...) also in the teams surrounding the artists booking agents, programmers, sound engineers (...)
Representation on line ups is not enough as Elijah (@elilah) said: judge the diversity of a line up by the division of money paid to artists not by who is represented, also on what slot they're given.
Stop booking at last the women, LGBTQI+, black peoples (...) just to look like you're doing your quota.
There are loads of great artists that aren't white cis het men so please open your eyes and ears!
Also, organizers should feel more responsible for their crowd and take measures to prevent, and to be able to help victims in case of, situations of sexual abuse, harassment behaviors and encourage more responsible drugs use.
Of course there are as well loads of people doing well their job, with passion and throwing great inclusive parties with a quality musical proposal and safeR spaces.
There's still a lot to do but we're moving in the right direction:)
Love.
Hardcore will never die.
X
