7 years of Whiskas @ Fuchs2

Hey, I'm Amma and I'm a full-time DJ from Wrocław (Poland). I also organize my own parties, for example Wehikuł - a nostalgic event series where I play popular hits of the 80s, 90s and 00s. In the past I used to work in the fashion industry, but I doubt I'll come back to this again. I feel that music industry is where I found my place.
I have been involved with music since I was a child, as a teenager I dreamed about my own rock band, but somehow it never worked out xD After high school I started to work and study completely unrelated things to music. For several years my relationship with music was only listening to and discovering new genres at home and going to techno parties. Since I can remember I was always attracted to hard, fast, dark and weird sounds.
In 2017, my boyfriend, who is also a DJ, started persuading me to become a DJ too. I was very reluctant to this idea because I thought that I wasn't suitable for this, I'm rather a shy person who doesn't like to do anything in public. But I broke myself and had one week to learn the basics of DJing and prepare the selection for my debut. And somehow it went awesome and I enjoyed it.
Luckily, I don't remember any bad experiences in the music scene with men. Everyone I met in the industry has always been helpful and understanding. But tbh I think sometimes it's even easier for women, because unfortunately many people look at the DJ's appearance first... It's sad but true. And I've noticed that a bigger problem is a phenomenon of nepotism rather than a gender issue. But it obviously depends on the situation and society in which someone surrounds itself.
If I wanted to change something, it would be nice if there were more new faces behind the decks (female, male, queer people, everybody!) and more harder and faster music in the techno clubs! At the end, a piece of advice for baby DJs from me don't be afraid to ask if you don't know something! Seriously guys. We are all learning something new all the time and there is nothing to be ashamed of. You can even ask me, I am always happy to help. Sending lots of love to y'all <3
